The 100 Day Challenge: Day #84

We've been having really warm weather.  Weeks of temperatures in the 80s and 90s is not normal in June for Western Washington.  I woke up at 4am today to thunder and lightening.  Daybreak really is my most favorite time of day.  As long as I was awake, I decided to walk down to take some more pictures of the Pilchuck River, from the bridge on Three Lakes Road (Snohomish, WA).

And here are a few shots of the sky at daybreak.  It is taken from our deck, looking west.  I'd have preferred to take the photos looking to the east, but the house across the street blocks the view.....

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #83 - Half A Green Thumb

Harvested my first cucumber and bell pepper today.  I need a little more practice with the peppers, methinks.  The cucumber, however, was delicious!

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #81 - It's Too Damn Hot!

We've been having a hot streak here in Western Washington.  It has been in the upper 80s, and tomorrow we are looking at temperatures in the 90s.  It is just too hot to be looking for something to photograph.  When my kids were little, I would declare "Milk Shake Dinner Nights".  I wish my stomach would still tolerate those dinners.  Tonight, I settled for a BLT and cantaloupe.  Satisfying but not nearly as good as a Baskin & Robbins Jamoca Chocolate Fudge Shake!

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #79 - Cooling Off In The Pilchuck River (Snohomish, WA)

We have had unusually warm weather here in the Pacific Northwest.  With the low rainfall and minimals snow pack in the mountains, the Pilchuck River has not been running fast.  This makes it nice for folks to get out and do a little wading or lounging in the river to cool off.  This picture was taken from the bridge on Dubuque Road in Snohomish.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #78 - Buggy Riding

Kim and I picked the boys up from daycare and made a stop at my sister's farm.  I knew she and her friend were going to be "driving" her Friesians, and we thought the kids might like a short ride.  Horses, chickens, room to run on a sunny day - what more could they ask for.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #77 - Centennial Trail Armar Road Trailhead

Another nice section of the Centennial Trail.  I think of this trailhead more as Marysville, but the address says Arlington.  Do not use the link for direction from the Centennial Trail Website .  Just use google maps or your gps to find directions.  The link on the website is faulty.

I liked this section of the trail for its varied landscapes.  There are areas of shade, and areas of sun.  The parking lot/trailhead is not well marked.  We found it only because we had the address and we were looking for it.  It is on the east side of 67th Avenue N.E.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #76 - Father's Day

Just try to get a picture of six boys!  It is impossible to have all six hold still, look at the camera and smile (or say CHEESE) at the same time.  Of course it is understandable when four of the six boys are ages 5 and under.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #75 -

We usually avoid the Centennial Trail on the weekends; too much bike traffic.  We parked at the Machias Trailhead and walked south about a mile.  There are not a lot of scenic spots on this stretch of the trail, but I did find one section that allowed for a few pictures.

And here's a shot from last night's sunset taken from our deck.  Our deck faces west but there are quite a few trees around us, so we don't get much more of a view of the sunset than this.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #74 - Lake Stevens, WA

I set out this morning intending to go shoot some photos in and around Wyatt Park in Lake Stevens.  I got there and found out that what was once a free parking lot, now charged $7 for parking.  If I was going to spend the day at the park, I would have paid.  As it was, I only stopped for a few minutes to take some shots from across the street.  Too bad there is no on the street parking close by.  It is a nice little park with a swim beach and a boat launch.
