My husband's uncle and aunt, Sonny and Judy, had these planted in their yard. I had never seen these flowers. It's been 30 plus years since I first became aware of "red hot pokers" and I'm assuming there is a more proper name for this plant, but it is how I was introduced to them. I don't see these flowers very often, but there is one house on my daily walking route that has them. It always make me think with fondness of Sonny and Judy, and how I miss them.
