The 100 Day Challenge: Day #24 - Early Morning

My favorite time of day - early morning, just at sun break.  This was taken just a little later, around 7:30 am.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #23 - Cleo

I miss having 4 legged animal friends living with me.  I'm lucky the neighbors on both sides of me have dogs I can enjoy.  This is Cleo.  She was quite excited about something going on in the other neighbor's yard.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #22 - Snohomish River Trail

I had never been down to walk along the Snohomish River Trail.  It is probably less than ½ mile from one end to the other, but it is a nice stroll on a paved pathway.  The views of the river were very calming today.  I couldn't decide which photo to share, so I'm sharing them all.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day 21 - A Garden View

Today was my second grandson's fifth birthday party.  I thought I would be able to share great photographs of my four adorable grandsons.  The thing is that is darn near impossible to keep 4 boys, ages 2 - 5, still long enough for a photo.  I took 67 shots.  At least one boy was moving in each photo, except for the one.  That was the shot I took of the cat who had escaped to her cat condo for a little peace and quiet.

Good thing my yard was looking halfway decent, so I settled on a few shots of a quiet spot in the garden.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #20 - Ferguson Park

I decided to alter my walk this morning, and took a stroll down to Ferguson Park on Blackman Lake in Snohomish.  These shots were taken near the boat launch.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #19 - Pansies Make Me Happy!

I love pansies.  These are a few fall pansies that I plucked down in my deck railing pots last year.  They do re-bloom in the spring.  By Mother's Day, they will be replaced with geraniums, alyssum and lobelia.  I will have to see if I can find a spot for them in the garden beds.

Pinterest: Pancakes and Pork Chops

Cooking, for me, is a chore - not an enjoyment.  The easier the recipe, the better for me.  I've given up most of my cookbooks in favor of Pinterest.  Unfortunately with Pinterest, it really is hit or miss.

First up is a hit!  Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Pancake Rolls!  Oh, so yummy.  They come from the Crazy For Crust Blog.  Fair warning:  This makes a whole lotta pancakes, but that can be frozen and reheated.  I would include pictures, but we ate them up before it occurred to me.  The rest are in the freezer, and really who wants to see a ziplock bag of frozen pancakes.

And speaking of pancakes, how the heck do you cook them so that the bottoms look as nice as the tops?  I was always told to flip the pancakes when the top is filled with bubbles.  But if you do that, then the other side comes out less than pretty.  If you flip them before the bubbles, it either makes a mess or the insides don't get cooked.  I guess it is a good thing neither husband nor I are big on presentation.

Now for the Pork Chops.  I consider these neither a hit nor a miss.  For me, simmering the pork chops for 40 minutes was way too long.  They came out very tough.  I'd have cut the time in half, and checked for doneness.  That said, the sauce/gravy was really good.  I did have to add twice the amount of corn starch to get it to thicken, but it turned out.  I think I'd like to try this with chicken.  The recipe, called Drunken Pork Chops, comes from Siggy Spice.  Hey, it's made with beer - how bad can it be!

Happy Cooking!

The 100 Day Challenge - Day #17 - Picnic Anyone?

These shots were also taken along the Centennial Trail in Snohomish.  I decided to play a little bit with the black and white options too.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #16 - One Of My Favorite Trees

I'm not a shoe person.  The best days are spent bare foot!  I love this tree.

I took these shots while on my walk this morning down The Centennial Trail.  This trail runs 31.5 from the City of Snohomish up to the Skagit County line.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #15 - Visit With Mother Mary

On my walk this morning, I stopped by our local Catholic Church's Prayer and Healing Garden.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #14 - Hot Air Ballooning Day 2

Well, I missed the launch by about a minute.  I was a block away when I heard the whoosh.  At least I got a better shot, a new camera worthy one.

Balloon Depot is the company that owns this balloon.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #13 - Hot Air Ballooning

You know the weather is nice in our neighborhood when you hear the whoosh of the hot air balloons taking off.  If there is river fog from the Snohomish River, a local hot air balloon company sometimes launches from a grassy area up the street from our home.  I went out to get the paper this morning and this is what I saw when I looked up.

And I spotted them again while on my morning walk about 30 minutes later.

Another gorgeous morning in Snohomish!

Or this one.....

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #11

Clear blue skies with temperatures near 70 are almost unheard of in our neck of the woods.  Feeling grateful!

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #10

I'm taking advantage of the nice weather we are having here in the Seattle area, and capturing the azaleas in bloom.

The 100 Day Challenge, Day #9

A female gold finch showed up at one of my feeders this morning; she is kindly sharing space with a house finch.  I haven't seen any of the males yet.

It was a busy morning at the feeders.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #8

We spent a delightful afternoon with my husband Kim's brother, Sam and his wife Donna.  Lots of old stories re-hashed and new stories to share.

Today's photo is of Kim and Sam.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day #7

Wow - Day 7!  I'm having a day where I find it hard to image that I will find anything interesting to photograph next week, much less in 30, 60, or 90 days!

Today's photo is of one of my favorite azaleas.  Why we planted in it an area of the yard that we rarely see, it is often over-shadowed by the huge rhododendron in front of it.

It is also one of those plants that with one good rain, it is pretty much shot for the season.  So before the rains return, here she is, in most of her glory.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day 6

The Boys Are Back In Town!

Not that they really went anywhere, but it just doesn't seem that everyone is here at the same time.

First, we make a mess....

Then we kick back and watch a little TV.....

And then we play a little more before we have to go home....

And now it is time for naps.....for Grandma and Grandpa, that is.

The 100 Day Challenge: Day 5

There was an RV show at our county fairgrounds.  We scored free tickets, and no-cost parking.  A nice way to spend the morning, and I got in a fair share of 10,000 steps while trapsing and and out of 5th wheels and trailers.

This is the pick of the show for me.

The inside shots did not turn out very good, but here they are.
