Atkins Induction Phase - Day 1

Note:  Carb gram count in parentheses

Breakfast:  Scrambled Eggs with cheese and bacon                                    3.2 grams

2 eggs  (0.8)
1 oz grated cheddar cheese  (0.4)
2 strips of nitrate free bacon/pork strips (0)
2 TBSP salsa (2.0)

Scramble eggs with cheese and bacon.  Top with salsa.

Snack:  2 cups coffee with Stevia (2.0)                                                             2.0 grams

Lunch:  Taco Salad                                                                                          5.2 grams

1 cup iceberg letter (0.8)                                                                                          
1 oz grated cheddar (0.4)
4 oz taco flavored ground beef (1.0 - that's a guess on my part)
2 TBSP salsa (2.0)
1 TBSP sour cream (1.0)

Snack:  4 pieces roasted chicken breast.  1 cup herbal tea with stevia.               1.0 grams

Dinner:  Turkey burger patty, sauted mushrooms, asparagus, salad           6.9 grams

1 Turkey burger patty (0)
1/2 cup sauteed mushrooms (1.0)
6 spears of asparagus (2.4)
dinner salad (3.5)

Snacks:                                                                                                                    4.3 grams

1/2  Cookies and Cream Atkins bar.  (1.5)
1 serving pork rinds with sour cream. (1.0)
1 cheese stick. (0.8)
1 cup of coffee with Stevia (1.0).


TOTAL GRAMS OF CARBS FOR TODAY:                                                        22.6 grams

Well, I can't say I was happy with the weight loss for today, as there was none.  In fact, I gained 0.8 lbs.  However, I wasn't hungry and that did make me happy.

A few things I found out.  My idea of a serving size of vegetables and the Atkins Plan idea of a serving were not the same.  I will have to measure things out for a while so I can get a better idea.  I will also have to deal with the amount of coffee (and more importantly the stevia that I add to the coffee) that I have been enjoying.  I know I don't drink as much water as I should.  I've known that for years.  I'm going to make a bargain with myself that for every cup of coffee I want, I have to drink 8 oz of water first.

And then there is the exercise part.  Oh, I think I'll think about that tomorrow.  Today, we are painting the hallway.  That's enough for one day.
